Similarities in COVID-19 symptoms and other illnesses, such as a cold or the flu, often have parents wondering if their child has COVID-19 or something else. The only way to know for sure is through testing. “It can be difficult to tell the difference between COVID-19 and the common cold in children,” said Zachary Hoy, M.D., pediatric infectious disease specialist at Nashville Pediatric Infectious Disease in Tennessee, part of the Mednax® family. “If you think your child has symptoms that could be related to COVID-19, they should be evaluated by their pediatrician and possibly get COVID-19 testing.”
