Last December, baby Jemarius was born at 21 weeks, weighing just 13 ounces – about the size of a hand. Jemarius was cared for by Dr. Philip Tatum, Pediatrix-affiliated neonatologist at Emory Decatur Hospital in Decatur, Ga. At nine pounds four ounces and about a month after his original due date in May, he went home for the first time on Father’s Day. Jemarius’ family expressed their thanks for everyone’s love and support, especially the nurses and doctors who were there every step of the way. “That’s his second fam or his first fam,” mom Jessica McPherson laughed.
