Dr. Richard Porreco, maternal-fetal medicine specialist at Obstetrix Medical Group of Colorado, retired in June after 50 years in practice. He left quite a mark on the greater Denver community, delivering more than 10,000 high-risk babies throughout his career. Among them were 5,000 single births, a couple thousand twins, 250 sets of triplets, 34 quadruplets and three quintuplets. While the majority of his deliveries ended with happy, healthy outcomes, he reflects on those that did not. “As vividly as I remember all the successful stories, I also remember the ones that didn’t always turn out so well…and those are important to me, too,” said an emotional Porreco.
