As of June 10, 2018 Humana has terminated Austin Anesthesiology Group, PLLC (AAG) as a participating provider in their Commercial and Medicare Networks in an attempt to force us to accept below commercial market rates. Their decision to terminate network relationships affects many anesthesiologists in the area and not just our practice. This recent development could mean greater out-of-pocket expenses for you as a commercially-insured patient, but this should have no impact on you if you are a member of Humana’s Medicare plan. Regardless, we encourage you as a patient, to contact Humana directly for an explanation of your benefits and for pre-authorization of all anesthesiology services. Humana can be reached on the web at https://www.humana.com/customer-support/ or via phone at 1-800-833-6917.
We believe that medical decisions should be made between you, the patient and your provider, not by insurance plans. You can make a difference by contacting your Humana representative and expressing the need for them to include our Practice in their networks.
