Growing up on the east coast, Maryanne became interested in health care in high school while working in a spinal cord rehab center in Connecticut. Following the need for adventure, she headed to the West coast and traveled and worked as a forestry worker in the northwest for five years before settling in Portland, Oregon.

Maryanne received her BSN in 1988 from the University of Portland School of Nursing and began working in high-risk labor and delivery at Emanuel Hospital. At a conference in New Orleans, she learned of a newly developed advanced practice degree, the perinatal nurse practitioner (PNNP) program in Denver. In 1993, she dropped everything and moved to Colorado to join the program at Regis University.

She fell in love with the mountains, the sunshine, and the wide-open spaces of Colorado. In 1995, she began working with the Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists at Presbyterian St Luke’s in Denver as a PNNP. In 1999, she attended the University of Colorado for a post-graduate degree as a Certified Nurse Midwife, continuing to work with Obstetrix Medical Group of Colorado.

In 2016, while working with a perinatal group in Arizona, she found a new love: diabetes education. She became a Certified Diabetes Educator and, in addition to being a PNNP, provides specialty services for women in the education and management of type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes during pregnancy.

She is grateful for her brilliant, dedicated and hardworking colleagues, the incredible diversity of her patients, and their trust in the team to provide them the best care possible. She loves spending her free time with her husband and their two dogs, hiking, biking, international travel, learning languages, and traveling with friends to kitesurf around the world.
