Dr. Hospers graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1985, receiving a bachelor’s degree with high honors in biochemistry. She completed her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, where she was elected to the medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. After finishing a pediatric residency in San Antonio, she worked in the emergency room Santa Rosa Children's Hospital. She then completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Following her fellowship, she returned to San Antonio where she has practiced all facets of pediatric cardiology since 1996. This includes 15 years of inpatient care of neonates, children and adults with complex congenital heart disease, diagnosis and post-operative management, cardiac catheterization, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiographic imaging, and management of pacemakers and arrhythmias. She is now focused on outpatient management of patients with congenital heart disease as they grow and reach adulthood, and is designated as one of the practice's providers for adults with congenital heart disease. She has a strong interest in cardiac issues associated with Marfan's Syndrome, Duchenne's muscular dystrophy, Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome and other genetic syndromes. She developed a cardiac screening program at a local high school and has a particular interest in treating athletes with cardiac concerns. Dr. Hospers is board certified in pediatric cardiology and has been designated a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Hospers enjoys travel, gardening, performing in local theaters, hand weaving textiles, and spending time with her three grown children. She is a longtime fan of the San Antonio Spurs, as well as an avid supporter of two of her children’s volleyball careers through college. She has been married to a corporate attorney for over 30 years.
