Dr. Gonzalez was born in Bogota, Colombia. He earned his medical degree from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and moved to the United States with his wife in 2000.
He completed his internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of Puerto Rico and relocated to Charleston, South Carolina where he completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. He continued his training through a second fellowship where he focused on advanced pediatric/congenital cardiovascular imaging. During his senior fellowship years, he was a recipient of a National Institutes of Health Research Training award, which sponsored his research in three-dimensional echocardiography and cardiovascular CT.
Dr. Gonzalez’s major interests include new techniques in cardiac imaging (particularly three-dimensional echocardiography and cardiac CT) and cardiac intensive care. He enjoys teaching medical students and residents and he is the proud father of four beautiful children, two cats and two dogs.
He is now the Director of Echo Cardiography and Computed Cardiac Tomography at St. Joseph Children's Hospital.
