We have treated the special needs of South Florida infants, children and adolescents with heart disease since 1991. As the community has changed over the years, the type of patients we see has also changed. While congenital heart disease is still the primary condition that we treat, we also assess a wide variety of symptoms, including palpitations, fainting and chest pain. We screen children and teens prior to participation in sports, perform cardiac evaluations for children who are taking medication for attention deficit disorder, as well as assess and educate children with high blood pressure or high cholesterol. Our services, however, aren’t limited to children, we provide cardiac evaluation of the fetus, as well as management of adults with congenital heart disease.
In order to better serve the community, our group has grown to include six physicians. Drs. Steven B. Iskowitz, Donna K. Rhoden, Leslie A. Flores, Jocelyn Garcia de Viera, Jeffrey W. Skimming and Todd S. Roth provide services in five offices which are strategically placed within Broward and Palm Beach Counties, ensuring that children in our care are always close to home. Dr. Roth’s specialty is adults with congenital heart disease.
Patient and family involvement is very important to us. It helps parents and patients make better decisions and is an important factor in the success of ongoing care. We strongly encourage and support preventive medicine by offering counseling for, and management of, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia.
