A native Texan, Dr. Robert Bloss received his medical degree from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his general surgery training in Dallas and Houston. He completed his pediatric surgery fellowship at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Dr. Bloss began practicing pediatric surgery in Houston in 1981. Since that time, he has become one of the most prominent pediatric surgeons in Houston and the country. He developed a national reputation as a leader and is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association and the Lilliputian Surgical Society.

Dr. Bloss is board certified in Pediatric Surgery, as well as General Surgery. He is also re-certified in Pediatric Surgery.  Locally, he is active in the Houston medical societies. He is past president of the Houston Gastroenterologic Society and past vice president of the Houston Pediatric Society. Dr. Bloss also served as President of the Medical Staff at Texas Children’s Hospital

Dr. Bloss merged his well-known and successful practice, Houston Pediatric Surgeons, with the team at Pediatrix Surgeons of Houston in July 2021.  He looks forward to working with his growing team of physician partners, advanced practitioners, and staff to continue to provide expertise and exemplary care to the patients and families in Houston and throughout the region. Dr. Bloss had dedicated his career to advancement in pediatric surgery and has a passion for working with and improving the medical outcomes and lives of young patients and families entrusted to his care.

When he is not caring for his patients, Dr. Bloss enjoys spending time with his family and his rescue dog, Cooper.
